 . Shaggy Shi .
7Y 12lbs, Shaggy is scared out of her mind right now. She was found tied up in the cold... Who does that? At least have the decency to bring her to a shelter... Anyways, she's learning to trust again and are sure that she'll blossom in the right home. She is a nice little girl who must have been loved at some point in her life and we want that for her again. Please apply if you have a warm fluffy spot in your heart. No small children. Dogs and maybe cats ok. Facebook: Zani's Furry Friends ZFF (weekly adoption event info posted here) Instagram: zanisfurryfriends Twitter: zanisff Please fill out an application at https://zanisfurryfriends.org All our dogs are in NY/NJ area generally and can be adopted out of state depending on where, we prefer to meet our adopters but occasionally transport can be arranged. Many of us (cats/dogs) will be on display on Saturdays and Sundays, weather dependent--please ask by writing us at dogs@zanisfurryfriends.org and following us on FB. If you are seriously interested in adopting one of us in particular, please fill out an application by Friday so that we can be sure to be there. Otherwise we decide based on other variables. Usually we are in our foster homes so this is a bit more stressful and a slightly artificial environment but we do want to be seen and find our furever homes too. Please consider providing a home for more than one dog, especially if you are considering adopting a puppy. Dogs are pack animals and very much enjoy as well as need other dog company to learn to play, socialize and be good companion animals to people. The upside to this is that you won't feel as guilty leaving them alone and you get twice the love. Please come! And if you can't adopt, maybe you can foster or volunteer, and you can always donate!

Deaf Glory is a sweetheart, who just wants to love and be loved. He gives gentle kisses, the warmest doggie hugs gazes into your eyes even though he is partially blind, and walks beautifully-if slowly and creakily - on the lead. 10 years young, he was surrendered by the only person he had ever known and plunged into a frightening, lonely world of silence at ACC - for he is deaf. He deserves a loving home for ahis senior years. All he wants to lie at your feet in a warm doggie bed, smiling up at you, safe, loved, cuddled. Oh, and a totter out for a pee now and then. He is quiet and cat-friendly. He is a shy doggie, slow approach, and bonds intensely and quickly with his people. He is intensely bonded with me after only a week, and needs to do meet and greets out of house Not reactive, but since he scuffled with his brother in the original home, I have been avoiding dog parks and meet and greets. Only dog. But good with cats. . Mohegan Sun Blue Nose . . Mohegan Sun Blue Nose . . Mohegan Sun Blue Nose . . Mohegan Sun Blue Nose . . Mohegan Sun Blue Nose . . Mohegan Sun Blue Nose .
Previous owner describes Mohegan Sun as affectionate, playful, and shy. At home, 2y 48lb Mohegan follows you around. Her favorite activity is chasing after balls but she also enjoys squeaky toys and chew bones. She likes to play fetch and chase. She has only been kept indoors, sleeps on a pillow, is house trained and never has accidents. When left alone in the home she is well behaved. She knows commands such as sit, stay, shake/give paw, and go. For exercise, she is used to slow walks on a leash and off-leash in the dog park. On the leash she pulls lightly and when off-leash she runs away so must be in enclosed space. Mohegan (or “Bug,” as we’ve been calling her) is an adorable, healthy young pittie who will make the perfect companion for the right person. She knows sit and stay, but not come and lie down), but also partly for her occasional fearful behavior. However, she is very smart and interested in making her humans happy, so we think she will be a fast learner. Current foster writes: Mohegan is shy at first, but warms up and bonds to her humans quickly. Once she’s comfortable with you, she loves to snuggle, lick you, and just be near you. However, Mohegan can be skittish and fearful when meeting new people who are not her main humans (especially if they come up from behind!). She can also be possessive of her toys and food when she’s feeling uncomfortable. So, her new family will need to be willing to put in the time to train her to get comfortable meeting new human friends. On the plus side, Mohegan seems to have very little separation anxiety, and doesn’t have destructive behaviors like furniture or shoe chewing. She’s also fully house trained and will let you know when she needs to go out by nosing her leash! Mohegan needs a home with a moderately high activity level. Though she can be a couch potato, she’s happiest when she’s had a good long walk and some serious playtime. She likes the dog park, chasing sticks, and tug-of-war. She’s well-behaved on the leash, but she will need to work on some commands, especially recall, before she can be let off-leash without a fence. At home she likes to chew her peanut butter Kong and Nylabone, and shred soft squeakies! Like any female pittie, Mohegan needs someone to look up to who sets strong but gentle boundaries, and who is willing to exercise and train her. Please apply if you want the best looking Am Staffie with the most potential we've seen in a long time! Pirate, from Baku, Azerbaijan (Russia) is yet another puppy we rescued from the violence against strays in an area of the world where dogs if not purebred are considered vermin. This sweetest of boys is only 8 months old. He was found as a puppy outside with one eye shattered--as if someone tried to beat his eye out with a rock. Unfortunately, successfully--the eye could not be saved. Despite his horrific beginnings, he has maintained his sweet disposition and is normal in every way. He is here in the USA to avoid winter temperatures on the streets where death would surely have been his alternative. Please apply. This little girl, Phoebe, is a mini White Russian mix of cuteness and we really have no idea about what breeds are in there but we only care that she is a sweetie. About 6m and a slim 20lbs, she arrived to us week of Indigenous People Day with Rachel according to plan. Bagira, our furry Saluki mixed maybe with Anatolian Shepherd, is happy to start a new life in the USA. This 1y 50lb baby girl is a typical street dog from Baku but oh so happy and playful, her tail never stops wagging! Lucky for her (and us!) she was rescued because her friends weren't so lucky and were routinely exterminated. She is a high energy kind of girl. Mia Thumbelina, is a Puerto Rican Chihuahua-Dachshund mix, sister to Mimi Tinkerbelle. Mia is a 3y 24lb spayed Chihuahua Dachshund mix who loves everyone--dogs, people, and cats, but it's a little jealous of young children so none on her horizon, please. She is very bonded with her sister, Tinkerbelle (2nd foto)--it's really like having 1 dog because they do everything together including sleep on top of each other! They would benefit greatly with a yard to run around, are pretty good on leash, because of poor treatment by kids in their previous life, we recommend a home with no children. From their foster- Mia&Mimi are two adorable dogs who were rescued from the streets of Puerto Rico. They love taking long walks together and enjoy playtime in the backyard. Their favorite thing is cuddle time at the end of the day. They are up-to-date on all of their vaccinations and preventive care. They are housebroken and generally very pleasant companions. He has never bitten or scratched anyone to his knowledge. Bruno will chew up shoes if they are left out--so don't leave your shoes out as chew toys! Best in a home w/ no small children due to his energy, and because he is a big boy, w/ experienced bully adopters who know enough to be the alpha in the pack:) He can be a bit territorial about his toys and food w/ other dogs so we think his ideal situation is a home w/ a yard and access to other doggies for playtime. He definitely is not a city critter. He loves puppies so we consider him the perfect puppy nanny! A volunteer writes: Bruno is a wiggly, playful, sweet bundle of joy! He pulls a little on leash, seems housebroken, sits for treats, and manages to immediately initiate a romance with any tennis ball he finds! I’m not sure I’ve ever met a dog who entertains himself as well!. He play bows with the ball, waltzes with it, rolls on his back with it, eventually chews it up, and then starts the whole cycle with the next one. Just watching him is enough to put a smile on anyone’s face, but he also loves interacting with people (and, so far, other dogs too!). He seems to be one of those dogs who sees a friend in every stranger (the kind of friend he can give kisses to and get belly rubs from!), but I can only imagine the extra-special-lovin’ he has reserved for his family. 11/08/2016 BEHAVIOR AVERAGE Client came to drop off a dog that he stated was left in his apartment by his roommate.

This guy loves to be outside so a person w/ a lot of outdoor time and then snuggly time is his Zazu's ideal home. But he is for EXPERIENCED adopters only, preferably 1 person in the home and no children and not a City environment. 8y 38lb Zazu fka Zebracake is a good looking gent, reasonably well groomed and dressed in a lush dark chocolate and black coat. His amber eyes light up his face. His muzzle is very slightly grey, and his mouth opens often into a lovely smile. Zazu is a little shy in his kennel, but gets leashed fairly rapidly. He is a very good walker, marks a little his territory, and eyes the pigeons as well as the squirrels in the park. Well, he is just doing his job, as he is part of the herding group of dogs. Zazu does not mind being stared at by me and the camera. He will sit on command, and is not at all interested in my treats that I thought were quite tasty. He seems to like my caresses all over his body. He is a really very gentle and well-mannered pooch. As we were early visitors at a nearby park, we did not meet many dogs, and those we encountered did not elicit much attention from Zazu. He is an easy going character, friendly, a little shy–at least inside our walls–and a lovely Collie/Retriever mix who is sure to attract connoisseurs of the breeds.
